Bangladesh Agricultural University, abbreviated as BAU. It was established on 18 August 1961. It is the first agricultural university in Bangladesh. It is also the second-largest public university in Bangladesh. The old Brahmaputra river lies on the western side of the University campus. It covers an area of 1200 acres, 3 kilometers away south of Mymensingh town.

The university has 6 faculties and 44 departments. There are Veterinary Science 8, Agriculture 16, Animal Husbandry 5, Agricultural Economics & Rural Sociology 5, Agricultural Engineering & Technology 5, and Fisheries 5. It has 4 institutes. Graduate Training Institute (GTI), Institute of Agribusiness and Developmental Studies (IADS); Interdisciplinary Institute for Food Security (IIFS); Char and Haor Development Institute.

Extension: The BAUEC provides agricultural education. It also provides village development activities in 40 Associations of Mymensinghsadar. Also, vegetable cultivation projects are being started in 10 schools, madrasahs, and orphanages. Farm Management in Agricultural Development has chosen 48 ideal houses for introduction. BAUEC has organized 36 training programs for 10,185 farmers so far. Many people were trained including foundation training of University teachers & Officers.

Activities of the Central Students’ Union (BAUCSU) are taken care of by this division. This division also supervises various socio-cultural, sports, Central Students’ Union, Rover Scouts, and BNCC.
